Performers of 16 International Young Composers Academy in Tchaikovsky-city<\/strong><\/p>\n

Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble (MCME)<\/strong><\/p>\n


\n\"\"Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble (MCME) <\/strong>was founded in 1990 by Yuri Kasparov under the patronage of the famous Russian composer Edison Denisov. The ensemble focuses on promoting 20<\/span>th<\/sup>– and 21<\/span>st<\/sup>-century music.\u00a0 It is Russia\u2019s foremost contemporary chamber ensemble and consists of some of the best Russian musicians specializing in modern music. <\/span>MCME has strong educational goals and works closely with both Russian and international cultural foundations to bring contemporary music to a wide range of audiences.\u00a0 As part of this goal, MCME organises the annual fortnight International Young Composers Academy (Tchaikovsky City, Ural) to bring together both young composers and internationally recognized composers in workshops. <\/span>The ensemble\u2019s repertoire is extensive and has included the premieres of almost 1000 different works.\u00a0 MCME regularly performs in diverse locales across Russia (80 cities) and elsewhere in the world (28 countries). MCME has performed on the best concert stages, and taken part in some of the biggest international festivals such as \u201cMoscow Biennale for Contemporary Art\u201d, \u201cDiaghilevFest\u201d (Russia, Perm), \u201cRadio-France presences\u201d (Paris), \u201cFrankfurtFest\u201d, \u201cMaerzmusik-Berlinerfesrspiele\u201d (Germany), \u201cGaudeamus music week\u201d, \u201cThe Night of the Unexpected\u201d (the Netherlands), \u201cWarsaw Autumn\u201d (Poland), \u201cKlangspuren\u201d (Austria), and \u201cTranasrt\u201d (Italy). <\/span>MCME has recorded more than 50 CDs for leading CD labels, including <\/span>Olympia<\/em> (UK), <\/span>Harmonia Mundi<\/em> (France), <\/span>Triton<\/em> (Japan), <\/span>Donemus <\/em>(The Netherlands), and <\/span>Fancymusic<\/em> (Russia). <\/span>In 2009 MCME won the award ACTION in support of theatrical initiatives, and were awarded the GOLDEN MASK in 2013.<\/span><\/div>\n

\"\"Maria KORYAKINA<\/strong> (flute) was born in 2002 in Khabarovsk. She studied flute at the Moscow Secondary Special Music School (College) named after. Gnessins (class of Olga Ivusheykova). Since 2021 Mariya is a student at the Moscow State Conservatory, Faculty of contemporary and historical performance. She is a winner of different russian and international competitions, got a scholarship of the V. Spivakov Foundation (2018), the Gold medal winner of the XVIII Youth Delphic Games (2019), the 1st Prize winner of the Grant of the Mayor of Moscow (2018). She has participated in projects of the Persimfans orchestra, the Winter Nights in Amsterdam festival, the Kustendorf Classic festival of Russian music in Serbia, Gnessin week, the First MAMA Workshop, etc. Since 2022 soloist of the Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble and the CEAM-Artists ensemble<\/p>\n

Oleg TANTSOV (clarinet)
\n<\/strong>Oleg Tantsov was born in 1957 in Moscow. He graduated from the Central Musical School, Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory (class by professor V.Petrov) and Post-Graduated Course of the Conservatory. O. Tantsov is a laureate of All-Russian and International Performing Competitions, since 1998 he is the Honored Artist of Russia.\u00a0 He collaborated with TV and Radio State Symphonic Orchestra (conductor Maxim Schostakovich), State Cinema Symphony Orchestra, State Academic Symphonic Chapel (conductors Gennady Rozhdestvensky and Valery Polyansky). Since 1990 Oleg Tantsov is a soloist of Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble. He is a professor and chief of the Wind department the State Musical College under the Moscow Conservatory. Besides he has a Class of chamber music ensemble in Ippolitov-Ivanov Music-Pedagogical Institute, being there also a chief conductor of \u201cEnsemble XX\u201d. At the moment he is a chief of the Wind Department of the Central Music School (College) under Moscow Conservatory. As a soloist and chamber player Oleg Tantsov took part at the famous international contemporary music festivals such as \u201cGaudeamus Music Week\u201d (Amsterdam), \u201cWarsaw Autumn\u201d (Poland), \u201cMoscow Autumn\u201d (Moscow), \u201cDiaghilev Seasons\u201d (Perm), \u201cRadio France Presences\u201d (Paris), \u201cTage fuer Neue Music Zurich\u201d (Zurich), \u201cTokyo Summer Festival\u201d (Tokyo), \u201cMaerzMusik\u201d (Berlin), \u201cKlangspuren\u201d (Innsbruck) and other. In 1997 he was invited as a soloist by \u201cEnsemble Modern\u201d for the special project (Frankfurt\/Main, Berlin, Vienna). He was recorded by well-known international companies, Olympia (UK), Le Chant du Monde\/Harmonia Mundi (France), Triton (Japan) are among them. A lot of Russian and foreign composers composed and dedicated their music to Oleg Tantsov. He was a first who initiated and performed in Russia premiers of Russian and foreign composers, for instance, \u201cEchange\u201d by Iannis Xenakis, \u201cAmore\u201d by Karlheinz Stockhausen, Sonata for clarinet and piano by Edison Denisov, etc. Oleg Tantsov gives a lot of time to teaching, research and methodical work. He created and published a lot of professional researches and books on execution of contemporary music for wind instruments, among them are \u201cNew directions for clarinet\u201d, \u201cNew directions for flute\u201d and others.<\/p>\n

Mikhail DUBOV <\/strong>(piano, cembalo, organ) \u00ad
\nMikhail Dubov is a pianist and musicologist, a laureate of Seiler prize and Action premium. Graduated from the Moscow Tchaikovsky conservatory. Studied piano with prof. V.\u00a0Gornostaeva, organ and cembalo with prof. A.\u00a0Parshin. Defended Ph.D. thesis on Iannis Xenakis, now proceeding musical research. At present he is a professor of the Moscow conservatory (piano, ensemble and XXth century music history) and Ippolitov-Ivanov musical college, being there one of the founders of contemporary music chair. Mikhail Dubov became a member of the Moscow philharmonic ensemble \u201cOld Music Academy\u201d (leaded by Tatiana\u00a0Grindenko) in 1992, where engaged in authentic performing of baroque masterpieces. Was invited for several programs by Jury Bashmet (\u201cMoscow soloists\u201d) and \u201cMadrigal\u201d ensemble. Since 1993 Mikhail Doubov is a soloist of the Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble. As a soloists and chamber performer he played concerts and participated in festivals in many countries. He is the first performer of numerous works by Russian and foreign authors (up to the moment about 50 world premiers), including works by E. Denisov, D. Kurtag. Took part at dedicated concerts of I. Xenakis, H.-W. Henze, E. Denisov, T.\u00a0Loevendie. Appeared at the most significant European new music festivals \u201cGaudeamus\u201d (Amsterdam, 1995, 2001, 2003), \u201cWarsaw autumn\u201d (1997, 2004), \u201cMaerzmusik\u201d (Berlin, 2009) and others, at many of them as a constant participant. During a number of seasons have been performing series of XX century solo piano concert programs. Performed as soloist with well-known orchestras: \u201cEnsemble Modern\u201d from Frankfurt (cond. J. Nott), Moscow State academic symphony, St.-Petersburg Mariinsky orchestra (cond. J. Nozeda), Bolshoi TV and radio symphony, National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia, including Russian premieres of piano concerto \u201cSynaphai\u201d by Xenakis and Concerto pour four soloists and orchestra by Messian at the Bolshoi Hall of the Moscow Conservatory with conductor Daniel Kawka. Mikhail Dubov participated in more than 40 CD recordings at different labels: \u201cMelodija\u201d (Russia), \u201cOlympia\u201d (Great Britain), Publishing House\u00a0 \u201cLe Chant du Monde\u201d (France), \u201cMeldac\u201d (Japan), \u201cMegadisk\u201d (Belgium), \u201cRussian disc\u201d etc., mostly with XX century music. Published about 20 works in Russian editions on such topics as Varese, Xenakis, Schostakovich, Denisov. Participated in a number of international conferences concerning contemporary music.

Evgeny SUBBOTIN (violin)<\/strong>
\nEvgeny Subbotin is a violinist, violist, arranger, multiinstrumentalist. In 2005 he graduated with honors from the Moscow State Conservatory in the class of Professor A. B. Trostyansky. He is a laureate of International and all-Russian Violin Competitions, winner of the Rakhmaninov International Festival. In 2009 he organized the FX Quartet string quartet, the repertoire of which was based on the arrangements and author\u2019s music of Eugeny. In the quartet he became the winner of the International Competition Usadba Jazz (2013) and the finalist of the TV project Quartet 4 * 4 on the State Russian channel \u201cCulture\u201d (2018). For 10 years he held the position of concertmaster of second violins group in the Russian National Philharmonic Orchestra. As a concertmaster he also collaborated with different orchestras such as \u201cMusica Viva\u201d (under Alexander Rudin), \u201cQuesta Musica\u201d, \u201cMusicAeterna\u201d (under Theodor Currentzis), Moscow Symphony Orchestra, \u201cFour Seasons\u201d, participated at the leading music festivals such as \u201cDiaghilev Festival\u201d, \u201cMoscow Autumn\u201d, \u201cViola in my Life\u201d, etc. He actively promotes contemporary music and since 2017 he constantly collaborates with the MCME as a soloist. His partners in chamber ensembles were Alexander Rudin, Alexander Trostyansky, Arkady Shilkloper, Grigory Krotenko, Petr Aidu, Sergei Poltavsky and other leading musicians.<\/p>\n

\"\u042d\u0442\u043eOlga DEMINA (cello)
\n<\/strong>Olga Demina was born into a family of hereditary musicians. From an early age she studied piano, but later she preferred the cello. She graduated with honors from the Central Music School at the Moscow Tchaikovsky State Conservatory in the class of Andrei Demin, then continued her studies at the Moscow Conservatory in the class of Professor Natalia Shakhovskaya. Olga is a Laureate of international music competitions (including the Geran International Competition (1st prize) and the P.I. Tchaikovsky Youth Competition (3rd prize). Soloist of MCME, the Sergey Mazaev\u2019s QueenTet ensemble, soloist of the Persimfans orchestra and other chamber and symphonic ensembles of Moscow. As a member of MCME, she took part in concerts and educational projects, such as “Composer’s Readings”, master classes, composer and performing workshops, taught at the Practicums of Contemporary Academic Music. Olga Demina writes music for spectacles and films, in particular, “Mother’s Field” (Pushkin Theatre, Moscow), “Lady with Camellias” (Pushkin Theatre, Moscow), the documentary “Friedl” (2019, Kultura TV channel), etc. She is also a theater actress. Performances with her participation are on the stages of theaters et Cetera and the Pushkin Theatre.The performance with her participation “War” (dir. V. Pankov) opened the 68th Edinburgh Festival.<\/p>\n

Vocal Ensemble N’CAGED<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\u042d\u0442\u043eVocal Ensemble N’CAGED was founded by Arina Zvereva in 2013. Participants are Arina Zvereva, Olga Rossini, Sergey Malinin, Ilya Laptev. They perform contemporary music, collaborate with composers in opera and drama productions, concert programs, performances and museum projects. N\u2019Caged participated at the concert series of the Moscow International Music House. The ensemble is laureate of the national theater award “Golden Mask” (2021). The ensemble’s projects include the opera Prose (director and composer Vladimir Rannev, Stanislavsky Electrotheatre), the opera Octavia. Trepanation (composer Dmitry Kurlyandsky), operas Maniosis, Maniosis 2, The Book of Seraphim (director and composer Alexander Belousov), Asteroid 62 (composer Dmitry Kurlyandsky), opera series The Drillers (composers: Dmitry Kourliandski, Boris Filanovski, Alexei Sioumak, Sergei Newski, Alexei Sysoev, Vladimir Rannev), \u201cDostoevsky 200\u201d (New Space of the Theater of Nations), Performance \u201cUtopia for Dinner\u201d (Tretyakov Gallery in Samara). Most of the compositions are released on the FANCYMUSIC label.<\/p>\n

\"\"Arina Zvereva <\/b>graduated from the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory. Founder and Artistic director of the vocal ensemble of contemporary music \u201cN\u2019Caged\u201d. She taught at the Moscow Conservatory, then collaborated as a choirmaster with MusicAeterna and Teodor Currentzis. As a musical director and vocal coach she works with the Gogol Center. Together with the Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble (MCME) as a conductor and musical director, she participated in productions by Kirill Serebrennikov at the Moscow Art Theater. Since 2013 she is a head of the vocal ensemble of the Electrotheatre \u201cStanislavsky\u201d. Among the numerous works at the Electrotheatre is the play “Prose” (director and composer Vladimir Rannev). \"\"Olga Rossini <\/b>graduated from the Perm Music College, specializing in choral conducting and solo singing (1998) and the conducting and choral faculty of the Moscow State Conservatory (2003). Choirmaster at the Opera House of the Moscow State Conservatory (2009-2016). Artist of the choir of the Moscow Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Musical Theater (2003\u2013present). Choirmaster of the Taganka Theater (2018-2020). Since 2013, as a soloist of the vocal ensemble N\u2019Caged, she has been performing works by contemporary composers, including solo parts in the opera series \u201cDrillers\u201d by Boris Yukhananov (composers: Dmitry Kourliandskyi Boris Filanovski, Alexey Sioumak, Sergey Newski, Alexey Sysoev, Vladimir Rannev), the opera \u201cProse\u201d by Vladimir Rannev (the performance is a five-time nominee of the Russian national award \u201cGolden Mask\u201d \u2013 2018, laureate of the Casta Diva award \u2013 2017), the opera \u201cThe Book of Seraphim\u201d by Alexander Belousov at the Stanislavsky Electrotheatre.<\/p>\n

String Quartet VACUUM<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"The Vacuum String Quartet was founded in 2016 at the Moscow Conservatory under the name A&C. In its early programs, the ensemble combined early music with contemporary works. In 2020, the group changed its name to \u201cVacuum Quartet\u201d and has since specialized in performing and promoting contemporary string quartet repertoire. Their repertoire includes works by composers of the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Over the course of its activity, the Vacuum Quartet has participated in numerous festivals in Russia and abroad, presenting a large number of world and Russian premieres.
\nThroughout its existence, the Vacuum Quartet has taken part in many festivals, including \u201creMusik.org\u201d (St. Petersburg, Russia), \u201cKarusel\u201d (Dresden, Germany), \u201cCasa del Quartetto\u201d (Reggio Emilia, Italy), \u201cBiomechanics\u201d (Moscow, Russia), \u201cNew Classics\u201d (Moscow, Russia), among others.<\/p>\n

Sergei POLTAVSKY (viola)<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"Violist and viola d’amore player, chamber musician, composer, and media artist. In 2003, he won a prize at the International String Competition in Tolyatti. As a soloist and with chamber ensembles, he participates in various festivals in Russia and abroad. After graduating from the Moscow Conservatory with honors, he won a prize at the Yuri Bashmet Competition in 2006. He took part in the following festivals: \u201cDecember Evenings\u201d, \u201cDiaghilev Seasons\u201d (Perm), \u201cReturn\u201d, \u201cVivaCello\u201d, Vladimir Martynov Festival (Moscow), Eliso Virsaladze Festival (Kurgan), Ruhrtriennale (Germany, Bochum), \u201cBang On a Can Summer Festival\u201d (USA, North Adams), \u201cDni Muzyke\u201d (Montenegro, Herceg Novi), \u201cNovosadsko Muzi\u010dko Leto\u201d (Serbia), \u201cMare Aperto\u201d (Italy, Riccione) and others. The musician\u2019s range of interests is very wide: from baroque music on the viola d\u2019amore to Vladimir Martynov, Dmitry Kurlyandsky and Pavel Karmanov, experimenting with live electronics and collaborating with such groups as \u201cBang on a Can\u201d, \u201cN\u2019caged\u201d, \u201cAcademy of Ancient Music\u201d, Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble (MASM) and the group “4’33” of Alexey Aygi. Since 2015, under the artistic direction of Sergey, the annual festival of alternative viola music “Viola is my life” has been held in Moscow, bringing together the best violists of Moscow. He has performed with such orchestras as “Musica Aeterna”, “Moscow Soloists”, “Novaya Rossiya”, the State Chamber Orchestra of Russia (GAKO), the Academic Symphony Orchestra (ASO), “Musica Viva”, “Questa Musica”, “Vremena Goda”, and others. In 2017, the Melodiya label released the music disc “Low Strings” for viola, cello, and double bass, together with Evgeny Rumyantsev (cello) and Grigory Krotenko (double bass). Since 2018, he has been a teacher at the Moscow State Conservatory. In 2018, he was named Musician of the Year by the national newspaper Musical Review.<\/p>\n

Rust POSYMSKI (viola da gamba)<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"Born in 1976 in Odessa. Graduated from the St. Petersburg Conservatory where he majored in viola and composition (2000). Studied historical instruments under Maria Leonhardt and Andrey Reshetin. In 2002\u20132009, he was a soloist with the Soloists of Catherine the Great ensemble (artistic director Andrey Reshetin). With the ensemble, he participated in early music festivals in Potsdam (Germany), Utrecht (Netherlands), Avignon (France), Earlymusic in St. Petersburg, and productions of the operas The Imaginary Philosophers by Paisiello and Boris Godunov by Mattheson. He played in the ensembles Laterna Magica, Musica Antiqua, Pro Arte, Musica Petropolitana, and The Pocket Symphony. He has performed with many renowned musicians, including Michael Chance, Andrew Lawrence-King, Vittorio Ghielmi, Benedek Csalog, Hans-Joachim Fuss, Simone Kermes, Mechtilde Bach, and Mark Bennett. He has participated in studio projects with the groups Aquarium, Oedipus Complex, Duty Free Zone Orchestra, Green Sleeves, and Darz. As part of the early music ensemble Barocco Concertato, he won a prize at the Wilhelm van Wassenaer International Unico Competition in The Hague. He has participated in the festivals December Evenings, Return, and others. In 2018, together with singers Alisa Ten and Marfa Semenova, he created the baroque ensemble Two Daughters. Since 2019 \u2013 artistic director and author of lyrics and music for the Novoselie project (stylizations of Peter the Great\u2019s cantos, music for viol consort in various styles and techniques from baroque to minimalism)<\/p>\n

Oleg BOYKO (lute)<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"Oleg Boyko is a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, and composer. He plays classical guitar, harp, lute, and its variations. He was born in 1974 in Severomorsk (Murmansk Oblast). He studied guitar and accordion at music school and sang in a choir. He graduated from the Gnessin College of Music with a degree in guitar. After graduating, he developed a passion for early music, which he performs on historical instruments: lute (six-chord and ten-chord), chitarrone, theorbo, and baroque guitar. He is a member of the early music ensembles “Orfaryon” under Oleg Khudyakov and “Baroque Soloists” under Andrey Spiridonov, with whom he has toured extensively internationally. He was the first authentic instrumentalist at the “December Evenings” festival in Moscow. For several years, he led the rock band “Mother’s Little Helpers,” and in 1995, he founded the folk group Telenn Gwad (“Harp’s Tribute”), which performs Breton, Scottish, and Irish folk music. The group also includes cellist Andrei Spiridonov (who replaced double bassist Roman Tomilin in 1999) and flutist Pavel Markelov. He recorded a CD, “Russian Musical Salon,” in France and an album of Russian ballads at his own studio<\/p>\n

Sound-Art Duo KVEF<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"KVEF (Vsevolod Krassa and Elizaveta Fomina) is a duo working at the intersection of algorithmic composition, sound art, bioart, cybernetics, and philosophy. Their focus is on creating original generative algorithms, sonifying living systems, and developing interactive tools for performers and various electronic, electroacoustic, and acoustic compositions. Their research focuses on media archeology (including the physical and theological studies of the 17th\u201319th centuries), sound studies, the history and theory of algorithmic composition, scientific sonification, posthumanism, biosemiotics, biophysics, biomedia, and speculative design. Their projects have been performed and exhibited at the Russian Museum, the New Tretyakov Gallery, the New Stage of the Alexandrinsky Theatre, the Darmstadt Courses, and festivals in Singapore, Italy, Canada, and elsewhere.<\/p>\n
